Directions to Stayin' Afloat 2008 at Seitz Park:
from the North:
If you are coming south on U.S. 31 as from St. Joseph / Benton Harbor, Michigan, take the toll road I-80 east.
If you are coming out of downtown Niles, proceed south on South 11th Street / Business Route 31. South 11th Street / Bus. Rte. 31 in Michigan will turn into Route 933 in Indiana. Stay on Route 933, as this will run due south into downtown South Bend.
Using the I-80 toll road exit # 77 as a landmark, proceed south on Route 933 (the old Dixie Highway) from the area of the toll road to downtown South Bend.
from the East:
If you are coming west on the I-80 toll road, take exit #77 and proceed south to downtown South Bend.
If you are coming west on Bypass Route 20, take the South Bend Michigan Street exit north to downtown South Bend.
from the South:
If you are coming north on U.S. 31, continue straight into the heart of downtown on Business Route 31.
On the south side of town, you will pass under Route 20 / "the Bypass" that comes from the east, and this is the juncture where U.S. 31 from the south turns west and heads up around the west side of South Bend, then heads north to St. Joseph / Benton Harbor, Michigan.
from the West:
If you are coming east on the I-80 toll road, take exit #77 and proceed south to downtown South Bend.
If you are coming from Elkhart on Route 2, proceed east into the heart of downtown South Bend. As you are coming into town, Route 2 will turn into Western Avenue. Turn north on Michigan Street. Proceed north to Jefferson Avenue. Turn right, heading east, and proceed to Niles Avenue, which is located immediately east of the bridge over the St. Joseph River.

Once you get into the heart of downtown South Bend...
From the heart of downtown, look for Jefferson Street and turn east, crossing the bridge over the St. Joseph River, and turn north on Niles Avenue or Hill Street.
If you are coming from the heart of downtown, you can also take either Colfax or LaSalle, head east, cross the bridge over the St. Joseph River, and turn south on either Niles Avenue or Hill Street.
Note: Washington Street will be closed between Niles Avenue and Hill Street.
If you are coming from the area of U.P. Mall and State Road 23, take State Road 23 in toward downtown, heading southwest, and when you come to the five-way intersection at Corby, turn south on Eddy Street. Proceed south on Eddy Street until you reach Colfax. Turn right on Colfax, heading west. Proceed west on Colfax to Hill Street. Turn left, heading south one block. Look for parking where it is available. The Seitz Park venue is just over one block to the west of the intersection of Hill Street at Washington Street.
If you are coming from the downtown Mishawaka area, take Lincolnway West into South Bend. At Eddy Street, exit north up the ramp to Eddy Street. Proceed north to Jefferson. Turn left, heading west on Jefferson. Proceed west to the area of Hill Street or Niles Avenue. Turn right, heading north one block to the Washington Street area. The Seitz Park venue is to the west, just west of Niles Avenue at Washington Street.
Seitz Park is located on a small island between the St. Joseph River and the start of the East Race Waterway. The park is accessible on foot only from either the parking lot area between the Emporium Restaurant and the AM General building. The park is also accessible on foot only from the north where the walkway starts just north of LaSalle Street.
The Strong Man Competition will be held in the AM General parking lot on the east side of Niles Avenue, just north of Washington Street. This lot will be closed off to parking all morning to allow for the Strong Man Competition.
The motorcycles for the Motorcycle Poker Ride can park on the closed section of Washington Street, and are asked to enter on the Niles Avenue side, and to park on the concrete sections of the road starting near to Niles Avenue.
The Sponsored Raft Races will be held on the East Race Waterway. Approach the Seitz Park area from Niles Avenue between the Emporium and the AM General parking lot.
